Magic Pads Expensive July 26, 2010 L. Clay (Phoenix, AZ USA) We have a 2500+ square foot house with all tile - so mopping of the floor on a regular basis became a real chore. We tried the Shark steamer and purchased extra pads because of the amount of floor that needed to be cleaned. The Shark steamer worked good but then all of sudden just quit working and it was not even a year old. So decided - based on reviews - to try the Eureka Enviro Steamer. I like the steamer but the 2 "magic" cloths that came with the steamer in no way will clean the entire house so I will need to buy more...and they are NOT cheap. Plus...despite instructions to rinse the pads out in the sink...this would NOT get the pads clean...I washed then in the washing machine...cold water and gentle cycle...and air dried them. They shrunk and so now I am without any "magic" pads and have tried substituting with everything from microfiber clothes, to dish towels, to hand towels, to cloth diapers....and NOTHING works very well except the "magic" pads. I should have done a little more research on the expense of additional pads - knowing how many I used with Shark - because if I had I would not have bought the Eurkea Enviro Steamer but would have just bought another Shark steamer.
Not impressed with the Eureka Floor Steamer July 24, 2010 A. M. Craig (Fairfield, CA) 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
After reading the rave reviews about the Eureka Floor Steamer I finally purchased one last November. I was so disappointed with the quality of the floor steamer: it's bulky and the side pinchers that attach the cloths are a poorly designed. Cleaning my floors have became even more of a chore since I purchased this floor steamer. My Eureka broke last week; I only had it for 8 months, and is not worth my time or effort to have it fixed. I'll be purchasing another name brand floor steamer!
Doesn't do anything July 23, 2010 B. Janusch (Phoenix, AZ USA) This turned out to be nothing more than an expensive wet-mop. Barely cleaned anything on the tile and didn't clean anything out of the grout. Left water everywhere.
My floors have never felt soooo clean!!! July 19, 2010 Maureen Felletter (usa) I have tried EVERYTHING on my laminate floors. I live with my mop & bucket out. Four dogs, kids and a multitude of cats cause me to continually be washing my floors. This steamer is awesome. No chemicals used but my floors never felt so clean. Just walking across them is now a pleasure. Streaks, some-but I think I need to get more pads and learn to go with the woodgrain. I would highly recommend this product.
Does the job! July 18, 2010 Deborah Sefchik 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I just got mine last week and tried it today so it was my first experience with this machine and the first "steam mop" that I have owned. I think, all in all, that it is great. It's easy to use, easy to fill and heated up relatively fast. I got all the way through the linoleum in my kitchen and moved into the wood laminate floor in a fairly large hallway. Got about half-way though it before it ran out of steam, approximately 15 minutes. It left the floors damp, but not wet. The dampness dried within 5 minutes or less. Clean up was relatively simple by turning it off, cooling it down, unclipping the cloth (I like the clips), empty it out, wash the cloth and dry by hanging over my deck railing. Unlike others (reading through the reviews), I think the material the cloth is made from is perfect for what it's being used for. It's almost like a dish cloth that is thicker and has a heavy texture. I believe this is something you would want to help clean your floors. I'm impressed upon first use so far and would recommend this product. It sure beats getting down on my hands and knees with a bucket of hot water and sponge.
By the way, the head was a bit too large to fit behind the back of the toilet. The only change to the design suggestion I would make would be for the head to be a bit narrower.
